We will conduct a thorough and holistic assessment of your child or young person’s physical and developmental progress and needs before we start any treatment.
Exercise and Therapy
We provide our clients with:
Individual and class exercise programs for strengthening, stretching, balance, co-ordination and other physical skills including walking, bikes, conductive education and Perceptual Motor Programs (PMP)
Rehabilitation programs following surgery or other medical intervention (e.g. Botox injection, Oncology treatment, Single Event Multilevel Surgery) in hospital e.g. Royal Children’s Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Angliss Hospital
We can organise equipment assessments and prescription (walkers, manual and power wheelchairs, standing frames, specialised seating, hoists, modified bikes and trikes etc.) and assist with completing State Wide Equipment Program (SWEP) applications.
Education and Training
Educational in-services to staff, family and carers about specific conditions and interventions
Training to teachers and school staff in physiotherapy techniques and programs
Manual handling assessments and training
School transport assessments
Guidance and information on manual handling needs, specialised seating, modification of PE or camp programs to allow optimal participation and specialised physiotherapy programs e.g. orthopaedic surgery rehabilitation, respiratory interventions such as bubble PEP (Positive Expiratory Pressure) etc.
As part of our commitment to you we can:
Help to source funding for therapy and specialised equipment
Help to complete Educational Needs Questionnaires (ENQs) in order to seek funding through the Program for Students with a Disability (PSD).
Liaison with teachers and relevant others (paediatricians, GPs, maternal & child health staff, psychologists, speech therapists, child care workers etc.) is part of the service and will take place throughout the assessment and treatment process. Your permission will always be sought first
Joint sessions with other health professionals
Liaison to ensure a smooth transition between services e.g. kinder or early intervention services to school, school to adult services
